Caring for the Caregiver: My morning with my favorite neighbors.

I spied the sun peeking through the trees just above a snow filled meadow. I decided it was too cold to be outside but the sunrise was getting better and better. I thought if I just wait a few minutes it will be even prettier.

While waiting and snapping shots, I turned to the right and looked up the opposite hill where the snow was melting.  I know it is impossible to see, but have faith in me.  There was a family of five deer who joyfully escaped the hunters walking into the woods at the top of the hill.  Their color blended so well with the browned grasses and weeds.  I was able to spy the last one by its white tail that stuck out like a sore thumb without the snow on this hill.

This is the final picture this morning. So lovely to capture that brightening from dark to light, and sharing the morning with a family of 5.

A very busy day with nurse and doctor visits and the week will be the same.  This was a great way to start my day.

I wish you could see the deer in this picture. But faith is believing in things we cannot see. Sort of like life. We believe we will wake up in the morning and life will continue. With this red sunrise, and breakfast with the neighbors, how could the day be anything but joyful?

Take a little time to yourself this morning caregivers, you just might be surprised at what's over your right shoulder. I was.

  2. Thank you Mary for believing! You made my day. And yesterday you did as well, with your hummingbirds!

  3. I definitely believe in the deer. Jerry and I had a great start of the day too. Barry called us about 4:15 while cabbing and asked if we wanted to meet him at Denny's in between calls. Of course we did! He does this about once a month and it always makes for a great day. We'll probably actually see some deer when we get up to the mt. house this afternoon after Jerry gets off from work.
Hope all your appts. go smoothly and your day is not too hectic.

  4. Your story reminded me of the two deer who crossed my path the other day as I was coming along the road that leads home. They walked across the road, hopped a fence, and disappeared in some brush. No hunters lurked in the direction they were headed, and I breathed a sigh of relief for them, but it didn't occur to me to write about it. Thank you for doing the writing, and for making the sighting of your deer meaningful to yourself and others.
