Bill and Ginger Lake George, NY Late Sept. 2000. |
I love this lake and wish the sun were shining on us right now. Obviously missing life on those days when we had friends come to visit from California and took off on wild adventures.
This was part of a week jaunt around New England, looking for the leaves that were suppose to be peak color. Our friends flew in for a two week visit, and I had just started a new job. I got the second week off and the four of us jumped in the car and drove North, West, East and South. Literally. We got lost a few times, but Bill kept pushing us further north until we got to the White Mountains, New Hampshire. COLOR!! Finally!
Today I am longing for those days of freedom for both Bill and I, and missing so many people out there.
A day off in denial is fine. We had fun yesterday. But guess what? Reality sets back in in the morning and here I am faced with a pile of papers that need sorted, filed and mailed. And Bill's depression makes everyday hard for him. It is a chronic illness that is complicated by this TBI. He was a trooper watching Toy Story 3, and we laughed and had a nice day.
Another busy week of doctors and snow storms looms ahead. In fact, it is snowing right now! I think getting down in the pits and pulling the cover over, waiting for awhile to get a foothold today is in order. Maybe another cup of coffee? Tired of climbing. Just want to sit for awhile.

We visited the Winter Carnival one year...about -4 and windy. Polar Bear swim looks fun!
Both spots of beautiful.

Has Bill tried painting on canvas as therapy? I would think the use of colors might ease his depression a bit. Depression is an abstract in itself. I bet he could paint abstracts and perhaps sell to hospitals and doctors.
ReplyDeleteAcrylics dry quickly and are cheaper than oil paints. Oil takes forever to dry.
Hearts~
All the winter activities there look fun to me especially the dog sleds. I will forward this to Barry, our family polar bear! The White mountains are beautiful especiall in fall. We use to have friends that lived there but were in Puerto Rico when we were. We visited them a couple of times and vice versa in Liverpool, NY. J
ReplyDeleteI too understand the enjoyment of a day off and the smack of reality when you return home! Hubby and I went to the movies tonight with my mom and had a wonderful time -- then home to find Sam hadn't studied much and was having a rough go today. So then the guilt of going out set in.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should have stayed home...
But then the thot of "but I need time away too if I am going to be of any use to ANYONE!" -- felt a bit better but still a bit guilty...
Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting. ☺(hope your stomach is feeling good today!)
