Looking back to the 60s...
Bill and I were listening to music after dinner and this song popped up. I have always enjoyed it, but this early version shows why these guys made it so big!
I saw The Jefferson Airplane in 1967 at my college, when no one really realized what was going on with the music revolution. I know I didn't. They were amazing to watch on a green grass softball fields, as a start up group. Hard to believe the censors of the Smothers Brothers show let this on air in 1967. Bill loves her voice.

Pretty close to some musical perfection here. There will never be another era like the 60's. The world has changed so much and that kind of innovation and opened eyed wonder no longer seems possible. Perhaps other things will come along that are equally valid but the truly revolutionary ethos isn't possible. maybe they were all dreamers but you have to dream, don't you? 'Business' always seems to ultimately get in the way, of course. I was just too young to appreciate what was happening but I'm glad I can remember those times, even from a child's perspective.
ReplyDeleteSinging Bear,
ReplyDeleteThings were changing so rapidly at that time, in the music world, in the world in general. I am finishing reading a novel partially set during Vietnam in 1966. So my mind is naturally in that place right now. The music was a woven net surrounding the turmoil of the times. You man Bob Dylan is a testament to that.
