Day 2: I've Been Havin' Some Hard Travelin', Lord...I thought you knowed!

I guess we all have some hard traveling time from time to time.  But these days, our lives are all touched by the economy, the decrease in jobs, wages, downsizing, staffing, medicare cuts, high insurance costs, high gas prices.

I often think these days of the depression of the 1930s that was such a part of the United States economy. I know it was part of the reason for the rise of Hitler in Germany, and how the people were so easily duped into believing that they were right.

This song by Woody Guthrie speaks to me of the end of greed, reaching out to a God I hope is there, who know the hard times that Bill and I struggle through.  We are hanging in at this point. We have each other to talk with, walk with, make plans with.  But it has its cost.

So for all of us, on day 2 of Lent, I am taking my hard travelin' times to the Lord and see what he has to say back. I can use his help.

  1. Thank God for Woody Guthrie. I fear those economic hard times of the 30's really will be back and may be even worse. Somehow, all the good people of the world need to rise above it and keep the faith (whatever that is). Keep singing!

    1. I fear you are correct Singing Bear. A voice from the past to remind us that we have to learn from history, or repeat its mistakes.

  2. Woody endured some hard times, but used them to make beautiful music for all to enjoy. It's fitting to evoke him on this blog.

    1. Very true. Hard times show the strength that is in us. Maybe working at the steel plant, as Woody did? Or reaching into ourselves, out to others, or to a high being, no matter how we name him/her. Thanks for the comment. Emily always has such amazing insights.

  3. Hey Girl,

Let me tell you there is a God and His Son has shed His blood for us. The ultimate victory has been won but the battle still ravages on. Trust in Him and He will see you both through.

    1. Thanks Nick. Today was a perfect day for this message! Peace. I will be back to my LASH Publishing Blog one of these days, sooner rather than later I hope. I appreciate the note.
