Phantom of the Opera: 10,000th performance today

The Majestic Theatre, Manhattan!  What a way to spend my birthday. I was a lot younger that night, but today is the 10,000th performance, my memories are so vivid of the marvelous performance. My first time in this theater was the summer of 1986, and I was with my two young sons watching the classic Arsenic and Old Lace, with Tony Roberts.  Not long afterward, Phantom took over this location and has never left Broadway.

Congratulations to Andrew Lloyd Webber and all of the marvelous actors and actresses who have added so much joy to our lives. It was to this song that Bill and I shared our first kiss.  A very special moment.

SARAH BRIGHTMAN & MICHAEL BALL & MICHAEL CRAWFORD-ALL I ASK OF YOU-THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA-THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT-LYRICS TO ALL I ASK OF YOU:
No more talk of darkness,
forget these wide-eyed fears;
I'm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I'm here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.

Christine (Sarah)

Say you'll love me ev'ry waking moment;
turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that's all I ask of you.

Raoul

Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you're safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.

Christine

All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.

Raoul

Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you want me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
that's all I ask of you.

Christine

Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime.

Together

Say the word and I will follow you.
Share each day with me, each night, each morning.

Christine

Say you love me ...

Raoul

You know I do.
Together:
Love me, that's all I ask of you ...
Love me, that's all I ask of you...
Music: Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Lyrics: Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe
