Stuck in Old Lodi Again

Hard times have hit many of us lately, I am sad to say.  I knew Lodi well back in the 1970s.  We didn't live too far away, and we had to drive through there to get to the City to shop.  They use to have a petting zoo I took my toddlers to visit.   And I remember a huge ORANGE shaped fruit stand, but that may have been further up the valley.  Maybe someone out there remembers. It must have been built in the 1940s and is one of those iconic things that still exist, long past there usefulness.  (See link below music)

Here's a song to go along with the Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin:  Creedence Clearwater Revival...Stuck in old Lodi again.  Hard to believe such good wine comes from Lodi! It's nice for me to remember, I'm still a California Girl at heart!

If you want to catch the John Fogerty acoustics perspective on his youth and the state of being stuck in Lodi, enjoy the version below.

I found a link if you want to check out the giant orange near Redding, CA built in 1946. http://scph.home.netcom.com/giant_orange/california_orange_stands.html

  1. Great song. Much played at Bear Towers. Great band. What it is to get stuck in old Lodi. It's odd for us all the way over here to think that these 'legendary' places are actually somewhere on the map - they have become so much a part of our psychic geography. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I know what you mean. It is the "state of being in Lodi" rather than being in the actual town. You said it better that. Thanks for the comment.

  2. Ginger, you are not going to believe it. Eric's store is in Lodi, Ohio, ten miles from where we live. He was born there, but he knows your Lodi too from having been in the Forest Service in California for a year in that space between college graduation and Vietnam.
